After a careful review of local market data, product and supplier warranties, area demographics and a competitive analysis of what other shops are offering, I'm pleased to announce that our basic 12 month or 12,000 mile shop warranty is going to be extended again to 24 months or 28,000 miles.
At one time we had the longest warranty out there, but I'm confident that it's a good solid consumer safety net and that it should give you the confidence that you need in making your repair facility choices. There are no additional charges, no forms to fill out and no hidden fees. This is just part of the basic service and a long overdue update to the basic shop warranty.)
**24/28 Warranty** All repairs & services performed by Auto Computer & Electronics are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 24 months, or 28,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Our 24-28 standard warranty will cover all costs to repair or replace any failed components that we installed, at no cost to you. In the rare event work we have performed develops a problem, we will get the vehicle back to our shop promptly and we will do what it takes to make it right for you, again at no cost to you.
In many instances, today's suppliers have extended warranties on their parts. Some are credible extensions of coverage due to improvements in design or manufacturing. Some seem to be just a gimmick to sell more parts, but in either case we will honor these as well, for the part itself, beyond the standard 24-28 warranty. For example, if a "lifetime warranty" alternator fails again 5 years after installation and that failure is not attributed to misuse, abuse or performance expectations exceeding it's intended purpose, then after the second year or 28,000 miles elapsed, you'll only pay labor to replace the failed part again.
If the supplier of a component part doesn't measure up to our 24-28 warranty standard and we installed the part as part of a repair, we will still cover the part for the same 24-28 warranty period regardless, even if that means we have to buy that part again at our cost. This is one of the reasons why we're so finicky about where we get our parts, or what brands we'll use.
We want to provide you with the best warranty of all, the one that you don't ever need to use.
Note: Some people prefer to supply their own parts, which is fine, but please understand that it becomes a warranty claims issue with suppliers if your supplied part fails. Our suppliers are very good about parts warranties and records for parts that we purchased and installed, but often the warranty isn't traceable back to the original buyer if we didn't source the part or buy it. If you're willing to run that risk, we're okay with it, just understand that like a technician and their tools, a repair is only as good as the replacement parts you use.
